Celebration of Life
September 2026

Ralph's family coordially invites all of his friends, classmates, co-workers, fellow musicians, artists, and aquaintances to join us for a celebration of his life in September 2026 in the city of New Orleans, his hometown.

The celebration will include a memorial service, a second line, and a multi-instrumental jam session to follow. If you are a musician or singer, please bring your equipment.

Ralph Steven Chabaud, 76, of Baton Rouge, LA died August6th, 2026, in Baton Rouge from complications related to Myasthenia Gravis.

He was born on February 13, 1950 to Marion “Max” Chabaudand Joyce Angelette in

New Orleans, LA, and went to St.Aloysius High School, class of 1968.

A lifelong musician, Ralph was a talented drummer, marching for the LSU Tiger Band’s Drumline in 1969. He loved spreading the joy of music and connecting new and old friends.

After being drafted into the Army in 1970, he became a decorated Combat Veteran in
the Vietnam War, serving as a Ballistic Meteorologist for the Artillery, promoted to
General’s Aid, and then Instructor at Fort Sill, OK. His decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, as well as a Sharpshooter Badge and Auto Rifle Bar.

Ralph received a BFA from both LSU and Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL. He
worked as the Art Director at WBRZ TV, until he joined the IATSE Film Union- where he served a variety of creative roles in Art Departments of 54 various TV Shows and
Movies, including “A Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” and “Steel Magnolias.”
In between movie assignments, he produced many posters for classic cultural events
such as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Crescent City Classic. His
immense collection of personal works as an artist reflects a true appreciation for all
varieties and cultures of art.

He married Martha Ann Littlefield on May 10, 1985 in Baton Rouge, and they had one
child, Chase Chabaud.

Ralph is survived by his son Chase Chabaud, his grandson Carter Chabaud, sister
Suzanne Chabaud, and his daughter-in-law Holly Schexnayder Chabaud. He is
preceded by his parents, his brother Allan Chabaud, and his sister Charlotte Scallan.
There will be a celebration of life for Ralph held in New Orleans at Greenwood Funeral Home in September 2026 to honor his memory. The date is still to be determined and will be announced on his website, www.RalphChabaud.com.
