About

Meet the artist

Ralph Chabaud was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, but has called Baton Rouge, LA home since college. Throughout his life, he has been a Jazz musician, produced fine art, commissioned portraits, backdrops and murals, and a variety of commercial art.

Educated at LSU (BFA in Painting) and Ringling School of Art (Illustration degree), Ralph has held art-related positions for a variety of commercial concerns such as advertising companies, magazines, poster publishers, a silk screen company and an ABC-affiliated TV station.

As a member of International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Ralph illustrated for major motion pictures such as "Steel Magnolias," "Twilight - Breaking Dawn," "The Maze Runner," and others. He has also served as a scenic artist, sign-writer, and an onset scenic artist. Some of the movies feature his art as set dressings.

For 17 years, Ralph participated in producing Jazz Fest posters serving as serigrapher, colorist, and assisted in managing the poster printing process. He has also created art that has graced over 30 event posters for local, national, and international promotions.

Now recently retired from IATSE, Ralph is pursuing both his fine art interests and engaging his passion of playing music with his musician colleagues.
